Floor construction is the most serious activity in the building process serving as the main link between sub- structure and super-structure. Apart from the foundation, the floor of the building serves as the most immediate support for super-structure. The loads of the walls and columns and imposed loads are first transmitted to the floor before reaching the foundation concrete. The inability of a floor to support the above loads and onward transmission will indicate the ineffective nature of the whole building. To ensure that floors are effectively constructed and serve the desired purpose, the knowledge of appropriate principles and practice is very necessary. Developed for second grade. The purpose of this activity is to bring the food pyramid to life. Hang the caterpillar up in a place that is visible to all students and pass out the hand out. Break the class into six groups and assign each group a food category. Ask them to go through the magazines and find foods that fall in their assigned category and cut out the pictures. After about 10 minutes call the class back together. Each child is to pick one of the pictures that they choose to share with the class. To a significant extent, copyright law governs the production, dissemination and consumption of knowledge and culture. In an "information society" it is particularly important to ensure that the gates of learning are kept wide open. It is in this context that an examination of copyright law with respect to education becomes crucial. When performing an audit of copyright law, it is essential to keep in mind international treaty obligations: particularly, the Berne Convention, the Agreement on trade-related aspects of intellectual property rights -- which is consequent to membership at the World Trade Organisation, and more recent treaties such as the World Intellectual Property Organization's Copyright Treaty. Taken together, they define the international copyright regime. It is also essential to keep in mind that even from the perspective of the multifaceted international obligations that countries are subject to, there is yet great flexibility as to how copyright may be legislated, especially given national goals such as literacy and education. This last point is, unfortunately, not yet adequately known. The following copyright law checklist is an attempt at gaining a better understanding of not only how intellectual property affects education but also what countries have within their power to do, to increase access to education of quality at all levels.

Developed for third grade. This lesson begins by exploring the concepts of density and buoyancy with an introductory "sink or float" activity. In this activity students will be asked to predict whether they think each of a group of small objects will sink or float. The objects we used for this activity are on the materials list. This gets students interested and asking the question "why do some objects sink, and others float?" Students will be asked to think about this question before being given an explanation.This introduction is followed by an experiment. The experiment is a great example of instant gratification science! In this activity students will form a hypothesis about how many teaspoons of salt it will take to float an egg in one cup of water. The hypothesis is then tested and the results are analyzed. This course traces the birth of information technology and briefly describes the concepts by linking it to the development of computers beginning with the first generation of computers. It introduces the learner to the basic working processes of a computer. It demonstrates how the memory and the processor coordinate activities based on instructions received from input devices or computer programs stored on the disk drive. This course discusses the different computer components and helps the learner to understand the role and contribution of each component to the effective working of the system. It explains software and hardware types and the uses to which they may be put. It also explains what data is, how it is processed and how the user may submit data to the computer for processing.
