O aplicativo GeoSensor é o produto técnico da dissertação de mestrado intitulada: App GeoSensor, Geotecnologias Aplicadas ao Ensino das Ciências Ambientais, apresentada ao Programa de Pós-Graduação em Rede Nacional para Ensino das Ciências Ambientais – Profciamb, núcleo UFPA. O app foi concebido como uma forma de disseminar conhecimentos em Geotecnologias, de maneira didática e acessível, além de fazer paralelo com conhecimentos de disciplinas curriculares, como matemática, física e química, de modo a servir como incentivo ao Ensino de Ciências Ambientais, despertando o interesse dos alunos, utilizando exemplos de aplicações práticas de conceitos vistos em sala de aula, além de possibilitar aos educadores demonstrar as aplicações do conhecimento obtido em sala na vida de todos.
O aplicativo foi desenvolvido tendo como público-alvo discentes e docentes do ensino médio, com possibilidades de aplicação também a partir do ensino fundamental 2, bem como em níveis técnico e superior.

Bending the curve to flatten the upward trajectory of pollution emissions responsible for climate disruption is essential in order to protect billions of people from this global threat. Building on lessons learned over several summers, Kristin Raab—Health Impact Assessment and Climate Change Program Director in the Environmental Health Division of Minnesota’s Department of Health—packaged information from diverse communities into a cohesive toolkit that communities of all sizes can use to prepare for heat waves. The Minnesota Extreme Heat Toolkit describes changing weather conditions in Minnesota, the magnitude of potential health consequences from extreme heat, and key steps communities can take to prevent heat-related illnesses and deaths. The toolkit acknowledges that extreme heat response plans will vary with the size of the community and the habits of its residents: examples from the mostly rural Olmsted County and the urban centers of Saint Paul and Minneapolis illustrate a range of community plans that could be useful in Minnesota and beyond.

Chemistry and the Environment is designed to accompany a one-semester course in chemistry-based discussions of important environmental issues such as air pollution, the ozone layer, climate change and water quality. Chemical principles are introduced, followed by environmental ‘focus’ sections to base discussions on the scientific principles and societal intricacies of the individual topics. Instructors can also use the focus sections as a resource for presentation slides. Chemistry 2e is designed to meet the scope and sequence requirements of the two-semester general chemistry course. The Climate Toolkit is a resource manual designed to help the reader navigate the complex and perplexing issue of climate change by providing tools and strategies to explore the underlying science. As such it contains a collection of activities that make use of readily available on-line resources developed by research groups and public agencies. These include web-based climate models, climate data archives, interactive atlases, policy papers, and “solution” catalogs. Unlike a standard textbook, it is designed to help readers do their own climate research and devise their own perspective rather than providing them with a script to assimilate and repeat.

AE 868 examines the theories and design practices of solar electric systems in the context of utility and commercial-scale applications. An important goal of the course is to equip solar professionals with skills to follow the impact of hardware trends in industry on feasibility, design, and the commissioning of such systems.
