In this activity, students will examine advertisements in French. They will also collaborate to develop an advertising campaign to sell prom tickets at their school. This activity will target all three modes of communication.
In this Interactive Lecture Demonstration, students will predict the main issues that might be included in short French language videos treating topics such as endangered species, organic farming, the effect of aerosols on the environment, pollution and sustainable development. They will then view short videos on the topics and reflect on how their prior assumptions meshed with reality.

This OER Lesson plan/unit was created by Masey Ringlein as part of the 2023 World Language OER Summer work and training. Educators worked with NDE staff to create OER Learning Plans and materials. The attached Lesson Plan is designed for 9 - 12 World Language French teachers for student learning of Novice Mid Learners of French. Students will listen and comprehend a dialogue between a doctor and a patient. They will use the vocabulary from this activity to translate into French, and they will create their own dialogue in a similar style. This Lesson Plan addresses the following NDE World Language Standard(s): NE WL 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, NE WL 2.2It is expected that this Lesson Plan will take students 90 minutes to complete.

This chapter will focus on the family, telling ages and phones numbers covering numbers from 30 - 1.000.000; it will reintroduce the verb "avoir" to have. Making interrogatory questions will also be covered with "qui", "que, "comment", "quand" etc. It will also revisit possessive adjectives for use with family members.

Students will be choosing and defending their opinions on a variety of cinematic topics. Students will also practice discussing opinions other than their own.
This listening activity will allow students to spot the vocabulary of tourism they have already encountered and memorized during the previous part of the lesson and in their homework, but this time in an authentic document. In terms of intercultural competence, students will learn or expand their knowledge of tourism in Canada, and particularly in the province of Manitoba where thousands of people (including indigenous communities) speak French or a mixed language containing elements of French. Students will also have time to discuss and reflect on the role of tourism in the reconciliation process in Manitoba, in Canada in general, and in other countries/areas they may know about.

In this activity, students will read an article about factors to consider when renting a vacation property. Then, they will compare lists with a partner or in a small group to come to a consensus on the five most important factors. Students will work together to find a vacation rental in a francophone area that incorporates their considerations and will present their choice to the class. As a possible extension on this activity, students can choose an accommodation and write a mock review of the accommodation.
