CCSS.ELA-Literacy.W.5.2: Limited (1)

In your resource the students are practicing identifying main ideas and supporting details, and they see the teacher do it with the first paragraph, and practice it in the second paragraph, but are they really producing their own writing, coming up with their own ideas?

Quality of Explanation of the Subject Matter: Limited (1)

The presentation section is fairly vague. What sentences and keywords will the teacher select in the first paragraph? What about the second paragraph? What are the target sentences the students should identify?

Quality of Assessments: Strong (2)

I wonder if the teacher will have time to assess whether each student in this presentation style assessment.

Quality of Technological Interactivity: Not Applicable (N/A)

You mention the iPad app and smartboards, but I don't see any interactive component in this resource.

Utility of Materials Designed to Support Teaching: Strong (2)

Great sample paragraphs to use, but I couldn't find the graphic organizer or the pictures and cut up sentences mentioned in the warm-up. In the application page you state bring in car manuals. Maybe not an easy task, but there are many car manuals for free online. Perhaps provide a link to one of those resources. It would be helpful if everything you mentioned in the resource was available in one location.

Quality of Instructional and Practice Exercises: Strong (2)

I am afraid that it might be a big jump from your simplified paragraphs to technical car journals. Since the second sample paragraph is process oriented. Maybe you could ask the students to describe the process of doing something or making something that they are familiar with. This might get at your writing standard a bit more.

Opportunities for Deeper Learning: Superior (3)

I think their are a lot of opportunities for group discussion, communication, and presentation.
