Placemat  Math

Write 4 different (but similar) integer operation problems in each of the four large sections of the placemat.

Insert the placemat template into a plastic sheet protector.  Provide students with a dry-erase marker and eraser. 

In groups of 4, the students will work the problem facing them.  After all four students have completed their problem, then they must work together as a group to find the sum of their answer and place it in the middle section.  If this sum is incorrect when checked, then the students must work together to find out where the error occurred and make corrections. 

Extension:  This could be used for solving equations, graphing, and many other applications.
