Abstract: Said, author of the groundbreaking work "Orientalism" and a professor
of English and Comparative Literature at Columbia University, was one
of the most prominent literary and cultural critics in the United
States. His writings about the Middle East and its relationship to
the West have had a major influence on both scholarship and public
opinion.

This event took place on February 19, 2003 in Zellerbach
Auditorium.
