Môn học nhằm trang bị cho học viên những kiến thức cần thiết trong việc sử dụng máy tính. Các bài của môn học được thiết kế phù hợp với yêu cầu của các môn học khác trong suốt khóa học như: làm các bài tập, bài báo cáo, bài thi, các kỹ năng vẽ đồ thị, sử dụng các hàm và công thức, sử dụng công cụ phân tích dữ liệu và giải quyết vấn đề.
Trong suốt môn học, học viên sẽ được hướng dẫn học tập theo ‘Phương pháp lý thuyết và thực hành song song’ và được rèn luyện kỹ năng sử dụng các phần mềm như Excel, PowerPoint, Eviews, Crystal Ball, World Development Indicator, IMF. Ngoài ra, tùy theo nội dung của các môn học khác, mà học viên còn có cơ hội sử dụng các công cụ máy tính hữu ích khác như phần mềm True BASIC, Microsoft Project, …
