Comments
Quality of Instructional and Practice Exercises: Very Weak (0)
All of the examples are logs that are other than base 10; all of the practice problems are logs that are base 10.
Quality of Technological Interactivity: Strong (2)
Students have a variety of practice problems; they can get a hint if they need it. If an answer is incorrect, the correct answer and the associated steps are displayed. The student must then enter the correct answer to move forward.
Quality of Assessments: Limited (1)
The assessment doesn't directly relate to the lesson (all problems are base 10, lesson doesn't address base 10).
Utility of Materials Designed to Support Teaching: Limited (1)
The information that is given is primarily in the form of a recipe for simplifying these logarithmic expressions. There isn't any context given as to why one might do this or why they work they way they do. He references a "proof" that might be helpful to the learner, but there is no link to it.
Quality of Explanation of the Subject Matter: Limited (1)
Much of what was said was not written out, so it would be hard for a student who didn't already understand this content. At one point, he says that some of the viewers will understand and others think magic happened and then goes on to talk about the pattern that they might have noticed. Students believing magic happened may be left confused.
