- Abstract:
This fun Web site is part of OLogy, where kids can collect virtual trading cards and create projects with them. Here, they learn about how living in the water differs from living on land. An ichthyologist first explains that ocean creatures have special features that allow them to breathe, eat, communicate, and move in water. (Each feature has its own trading card, which provides more detailed info.)Then students are challenged to "try to make the connection" by playing the Journey to the Bottom of the Sea game, in which they are given six turns to match creature descriptions with properties of water. As they move along the board, from surface to sea floor, they encounter "eco alerts" and may have the chance to ride in ALVIN.
