Abstract: This course is about our extraordinarily diverse and complicated relationships with the nonhuman lives in, near, and removed from our communities. Although we focus on veterinarians' special roles in "human-animal relationships," the course is applicable to the general issues faced by all humans as we engage the lives around us. The course Syllabus describes both the underlying philosophy and the specific objectives we have in mind when teaching our students about this remarkable topic.
