Abstract: This is the web page for a research project that is investigating the role of climate, biogeochemistry, fire, and herbivory in controlling savanna structure and function as well as the mechanisms that may lead to savanna stability. This website includes a description of the objectives for this research project and reports on specific savannah ecosystems that are being investigated. Some of the research topics are distribution of fertile and infertile savannas, models of savanna ecosystems, and transitions between stable states in African savannas. Information on periodic workshops sponsored by this research group is also provided. This resource is part of the Biocomplexity collection. http://serc.carleton.edu/biocomplexity/
