Comments:
Degree of Alignment to CC.1.OA.5: Very Weak (0)
Activities are low level targeted practice of add/subtract. Does not explicity link operations.
Opportunities for Deeper Learning: Very Weak (0)
Students can self-select levels of questions, but cognitive demand is still low level. Instructions at end: "Choose your favorite game" does not press students with learning responsibility.
Quality of Instructional and Practice Exercises: Strong (2)
Correct answers are given, but no support for helping students understand "why" and practice seems routinized, repetitive after several problems.
Quality of Technological Interactivity: Limited (1)
After a few questions, the practice seems routinized and stale; no adaptation for individuals. Activities are targeted practice, low cognitive demand without really understanding any strategies students may be using.
Utility of Materials Designed to Support Teaching: Limited (1)
Although students are able to select a level to customize the content, there is not instructional component, and the lesson identifies a specific level to target. At the end, "Do what is fun" is the direction- lack of "next steps" that are targeted for learning.
Quality of Explanation of the Subject Matter: Limited (1)
Activities are intended as practice and do not have an instructional component.
