The ADA National Network provides informal guidance on the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other disability-related laws. The ten regional Centers that comprise the ADA National Network staff a toll-free information line and respond to inquiries submitted online via email or regional Center websites.

Business owners, architects and designers, representatives of state and local government agencies, employers, people with disabilities and their family members, service providers, educational entities, and others interested in the ADA can receive individualized responses - Find Your Region/ADA Center.

Our ADA Specialists can answer most questions immediately and, if necessary, will research complex questions to provide you the most thorough guidance possible. Referrals to local and state/territory resources for disability issues, which are not addressed by the ADA, can also be provided.

AIM or AEM?
Accessible Educational Materials (AEM) are materials designed or converted in a way that makes them usable across the widest range of student variability regardless of format. In relation to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), the term AIM refers to print instructional materials that have been transformed into four specialized formats (audio, braille, digital, and large print text). Sometimes students with disabilities have difficulty accessing print in the same way as their peers. To succeed in school, these students need learning materials presented in a way that works for them. In 2014, the term "accessible educational materials" or "AEM" was expanded to include both print- and technology-based educational materials including electronic textbooks, and related core materials. Practically speaking the terms AIM and AEM are often used interchangeably.

In the following video learn from AEM users, educators, parents, and state and national leaders about how AEM can be a game changer for those with print disabilities.

This practice brief outlines a series of recommendations for improving the timely provision and use of high-quality braille – both embossed and electronic – and tactile graphics for state-mandated assessment. The primary target audience for these recommendations is State Education Agency (SEA) assessment leaders and others at the State-and national level who are responsible for ensuring that braille readers are full participants in their state assessment, whether general or alternate. Most desirable is that these recommendations will initiate conversations between and among states, districts, braille service providers, and test developers.

Description:

This is the online, interactive version of OpenIntro's Advanced High School Statistics (https://www.openintro.org/book/ahss/). It was developed by Emiliano Vega and Ralf Youtz of Portland Community College using PreTeXt.

Advanced High School Statistics covers a first course in statistics, providing an introduction to applied statistics that is clear, concise, and accessible. This book was written to align with the AP© Statistics Course Description, but it's also popular in non-AP courses and community colleges.

We hope readers will take away three ideas from this book in addition to forming a foundation of statistical thinking and methods:

1. Statistics is an applied field with a wide range of practical applications.

2. You don't have to be a math guru to learn from real, interesting data.

3. Data are messy, and statistical tools are imperfect. But, when you understand the strengths and weaknesses of these tools, you can use them to learn about the real world.

This textbook introduces students to the application methods of control charts to improve quality in health care. The textbook is written to be accessible to any student in the areas of health information management, health care informatics, and health care industrial engineering. Having a basic background in statistics would be beneficial, but such training is not a prerequisite to understanding how to apply the techniques discussed here.  Several How-To sections are included to demonstrate the implementation of the given control charts using software such as Minitab and Excel.  Additionally, samples of a Python code are included and can directly be accessed in a Jupyter Notebook at https://github.com/JeromeNN/Applications-Control-Charts-Quality-Improvement-Health-Care

This OER was made possible through the support of the Academic Senate for California Community Colleges Open Educational Resources Initiative (ASCCC OERI). This textbook was developed with the intention to support customizability and allow instructors to adopt and adapt the materials to fit their own course needs through the use of an open license and open resources. Because of this, this textbook can be transferred fully or as chapters (modules). It is meant to be used as you (the instructor) see fit. Alignment to Library Support Staff Certification (LSSC): At the beginning of each module chapter, learning objectives and LSSC competency sets are listed that the content aligns to. This is done to provide further insight into how the material can best support your course. In the appendixes, you will also find perspectives from students and professionals that can be incorporated into your classroom discussions about the profession. These insights were gathered by alumni of LSS certificate programs, advisory board members of LSS programs, and other library community members. This text was also written with the intention to not just highlight EDI efforts and priorities for libraries, but also with EDI practice in mind - meaning, we wanted to use and incorporate resources that provided a diverse range of experiences and perspectives as well. This includes checking for accessibility and usability.
