It explores ideas and practice in mental health, and will appeal to a wide range of people.

Hodges’ Health Career (Care Domains) Model provides a conceptual framework upon which users can map problems, issues and solutions across four knowledge domains: Interpersonal; Sociological; Scientific; & Political (Autonomy). The public may also be taught to use the model, enabling engagement, understanding and concordance in planning and outcome evaluation.

This course first ? xplores the links between emotions shown by animals and humans by asking these questions: What is the value of empathy Do animals show empathy? What are people like who lack this ability? Asperger's syndrome, Parkinson's disease, and schizophrenia will be explored. The second lecture considers how the earliest relationships shape a baby's psyche and brain with lasting consequences and how adult life is influenced by infancy, despite our inability to remember babyhood. The third lecture will question the importance of social context and whether all cultures recognise the same range of emotions. In the wes,t adolescence is understood as a transitional period between childhood and adulthood. The fourth lecture will concentrate on this prolonged learning phase, involving reappraisal of identity exploration of gender and experimentation with feelings related to early family interrelationships, This will be illustrated with filmed material. Finally the emotional development of children who come from deprived environments will be illustrated in the last lecture, drawing on experiences of parent infant psycho-education and group work with children under the age of seven.

It is a structured way of observing and describing a patient's current state of mind, under the domains of appearance, attitude, behavior, mood and affect, speech, thought process, thought content, perception, cognition, insight and judgement.There are some minor variations in the subdivision of the MSE and the sequence and names of MSE domains. The purpose of the MSE is to obtain a comprehensive cross-sectional description of the patient's mental state, which when combined with the biographical and historical information of the psychiatric history, allows the clinician to make an accurate diagnosis and formulation, which are required for coherent treatment planning. The data are collected through a combination of direct and indirect means: unstructured observation while obtaining the biographical and social information, focused questions about current symptoms, and formalised psychological tests.

Video clips examine how the brain evolves and differs from infancy to childhood, adolescence, and through adulthood.

The Pelican Web & E-Journal

There is overwhelming evidence that violence is the main obstacle to sustainable development. It is also well known that there is an intrinsic link between patriarchy and violence. Therefore, mitigating
violence requires overcoming the patriarchal mindset in both secular and religious institutions.

The mission of "The Pelican Web" is to collect and analyze knowledge on patriarchy-induced obstacles to sustainable development, and to publish the free subscription, open access "E-Journal of Solidarity,
Sustainability, and Nonviolence" (JSSNV). The e-journal provides a monthly digest on current research pursuant to human solidarity, ecological sustainability, and both secular and religious non-violence.

Each issue includes links to relevant "best of the web" content. The basic philosophy of the journal is Christian, but no source of wisdom is excluded. The U.N. "Millennium Development Goals" (MDGs) are used as a point of reference.
