This lesson takes 6-10 days and includes math classes in which students will serve as observers and will calculate the height that the rocket reached and time elapsed. In the science class the students will design, build, launch, and do a detailed analysis of the acceleration, speed, and force produced by water-filled two-liter rockets.

In this lesson, students will use math word problems to help them input information into a spreadsheet that will use Ohm's law to calculate current and resistance using common household appliance wattages.
The students use online resources to find information about the nine planets in our solar system. Then, using the relative gravity of each planet, they will create a spreadsheet to calculate what the weight of an average man and woman (possibly their own weight or the weight of other objects) would be on each of the planets.
This lesson should be used as a part of a unit on the three forms of matter. This is a fun activity on the process of how popcorn pops using gas as a form of matter.

The students will design a submarine that will float, subsurface, sink, and return once again to the water's surface by external manipulation of the submarine outside of an aquarium. In order to accomplish this, the students will use not only the concepts of mass, volume, and density but will also integrate buoyancy and ballast in their submarine design.
Students will time the periods of pendulums to determine if length or mass affects them. Students can then use a pendulum to calculate the acceleration of gravity.
