A work in progress, CK-12's Math 7 explores foundational math concepts that will prepare students for Algebra and more advanced subjects. Material includes decimals, fractions, exponents, integers, percents, inequalities, and some basic geometry.
Students apply their knowledge of fractions, decimals, and percents to understand the relationship amongst the three. Students will solve basic percent number problems using the percent proportion or other methods and play a game using a resource of the Shodor Education Foundation, Inc. Permission has been granted to use the materials as part of the Interactivate Your Bored Math Students workshop. Students will also analyze and explain the results of their game by answering two exploration questions.
This is a college level math session for elementary and middle-school teachers. In this session, we'll look at several topics related to fractions, percents, and ratios. As in earlier sessions, we'll look at graphical and geometric representations of these topics, as well as some of their applications in the physical world. As you work through the activities in this session, reflect on how mathematics is reasonable and logical, and how it is helpful to look for the logical patterns that emerge when you think about a mathematical situation.
