This is the final installment of my three part tutorial on the CNXML language. It is currently valid for the most recent release of the 0.3 language. The keywords contain a list of the tags described in this tutorial. Along with the example code in this module there is also an example module that has been growing throughout the tutorial.

This document explains and elaborates on CNXML tags that you can insert into a Connexions document using Edit-in-Place.

This module presents some ideas in the field of Communication and Language for use by teachers in Trinidad and Tobago. It is necessary to understand these concepts in order to see how they relate to classroom interaction and the teaching and learning of Literacy. This last point is made clearer in the modules: "Improving Literacy through Communication Experiences" and "An Alternative Language Experience Guide for Teachers"(See related links).

This lesson will guide and teach students how to process and produce language at higher levels through meaningful, redundant, contextually appropriate, and intrinsically rewarding center-based activities related to a storybook theme.

This course provides an introduction to critical thinking, informal logic, and a small amount of formal logic; its purpose is to provide students with the basic tools of analytical reasoning. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to: Understand what critical thinking is and why it is valuable; Distinguish between good and bad definitions, Recognize the differences between explicit and implicit meaning, and remove ambiguities of meaning from unclearly worded statements; Recognize arguments in writing, pick out good and bad arguments by their form, and construct sound arguments of their own; Diagnose the most common reasoning errors and fallacies, as well as identify ways of improving them; Understand the basics of sentential and predicate logic and gain practice manipulating meaning symbolically; Understand the rudiments of scientific methodology and reasoning; Evaluate arguments that rely on specific types of visual representation; Understand the basics of strategic reasoning and problem solving; Understand the particular challenges involved in reasoning about values and morality; Diagnose fallacies and evaluate arguments about values and morality. This class is an introduction to many of the central issues in a branch of philosophy called philosophy of mind. Some of the questions we will discuss include the following. Can computers think? Is the mind an immaterial thing? Or is the mind the brain? Or does the mind stand to the brain as a computer program stands to the hardware? How can creatures like ourselves think thoughts that are "about" things? (For example, we can all think that Aristotle is a philosopher, and in that sense think "about" Aristotle, but what is the explanation of this quite remarkable ability?) Can I know whether your experiences and my experiences when we look at raspberries, fire trucks and stop lights are the same? Can consciousness be given a scientific explanation?

How people make sense of their worlds symbolically through myth, ritual, metaphor, and cosmology. The structure of symbols, the natural and social elements they draw on, their social use, and the messages they convey. Students learn to record and analyze myth and ritual.

This course is an introduction to problems about creativity as it pervades human experience and behavior. Questions about imagination and innovation are studied in relation to the history of philosophy as well as more recent work in philosophy, affective psychology, cognitive studies, and art theory. Readings and guidance are aligned with the student's focus of interest.

Meets with CMS.850, but assignments differ. Philosophical analysis of film art, with an emphasis on the ways in which it creates meaning through techniques that define a formal structure. Particular focus on aesthetic problems about appearance and reality, literary and visual effects, communication and alienation through film technology.

""Reading Poetry" has several aims: primarily, to increase the ways you can become more engaged and curious readers of poetry; to increase your confidence as writers thinking about literary texts; and to provide you with the language for literary description. The course is not designed as a historical survey course but rather as an introductory approach to poetry from various directions – as public or private utterances; as arranged imaginative shapes; and as psychological worlds, for example. One perspective offered is that poetry offers intellectual, moral and linguistic pleasures as well as difficulties to our private lives as readers and to our public lives as writers. Expect to hear and read poems aloud and to memorize lines; the class format will be group discussion, occasional lecture."

This module represents the necessary repetition in choral rehearsals. It includes suggestions for improving this part of the choral rehearsal. Suggestions include specific rehearsal methods to obtain improvement during the rehearsal of a piece of music.

How do words get their meanings? How can word meanings be represented and used by machines? We will explore three families of approaches to these questions from a computational perspective. Relational / structural methods such as semantic networks represent the meaning of words in terms of their relations to other words. Knowledge of the world through perception and action leads to the notion of external grounding, a process by which word meanings are 'attached' to the world. How an agent theorizes about, and conceptualizes its world provides yet another foundation for word meanings. We will examine each of these perspectives, and consider ways to integrate them.

The term Superconmath means Superconceptual Mathematics. It is a meta-mathematical system that defines the structure of Superultramodern Mathematical Science. Superconmath proposes that the conventional (i.e. pre-superultramodern or modern/ultramodern) mathematical science is not as conceptual as it should be. In other words, it has conceptual deficiencies, in nature as well as in approach. Superconmath has five main components: 1.Superconceptual Definition of Mathematics 2.Philosophy as Mathematics 3.Superconceptual Foundations of Pure mathematics 4.Superconceptual Reconstruction of Pure Mathematics 5.Superconceptual mathematical Resolution of Modern/Ultramodern Mathematical Problems This article states each of the five components, in brief.

Exploration of formal and informal modes of writing nonfiction prose. Extensive practice in composition, revision, and editing. Reading in the literature of the essay from the Renaissance to the present, with an emphasis on modern writers. Classes alternate between discussion of published readings and workshops on student work. Individual conferences. As the course title suggests, this class is meant to acquaint you with the literary and rhetorical tradition of the essay, a genre which has been described by one scholar as "the meeting ground between art and philosophy," and by another as "the place where the self finds a pattern in the world, and the world finds a pattern in the self". Though the essay is part of a tradition of prose which stretches back to antiquity, it is also a thoroughly modern and popular form of writing, found in print media and on the web.

Tough on the causes of crime.' A famous phrase, but what is crime? This unit examines how we as a 'society' define crime. You will look at the fear that is generated within communities and what evidence is available to support claims that are made about crime rates.
