This is lesson five in the series. During this lesson students will put the things they have learned from previous lessons into a creative writing assignment. The students will choose an animal to be and will describe themselves and their living environment.
This lesson plan is designed to use a basic third grade math fact as a prompt to write and illustrate a math story. A hands on math activity using math manipulatives will serve as the focus and review for this lesson. A writing activity will serve as a conclusion as well as an assessment for understanding.
Another open trend that is growing quickly is the adoption of open source textbooks. But, the more broadly named movement has come to be known as open educational resources (OER). OER focus not only on textbooks, but also on full courses, course materials, modules, journals, streaming videos, tests, software, and any other tools, materials, or techniques that are critical in the learning environment.
