This seminar will be a scientific exploration of the food we eat and enjoy. Each week we shall have a scientific edible experiment that will explore a specific food topic. Topics include, but are not limited to, what makes a good experiment, cheese making, joys of tofu, food biochemistry, the science of spice, what is taste?
This is a hands-on lesson which uses apples to introduce the concept of "half" and to teach simple addition. This lesson was taught to a group of 1st grade EC students.

The students will get hands-on practice working with patterns and translating them to numerical sequences. This lesson reaches visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learners all at the same time.
This activity provides access to using visual and hands-on practice in solving problems with fractions. By using cereal, each individual student will be able to work individually and as a group in using different methods of working with fractions, and practice their skills in addition, multiplication, division and subtraction. A prior knowledge of the basic multiplication tables and common multiples will be very advantageous in working through this activity.

Provides a hands-on introduction to the resources for designing and fabricating smart systems, including CAD/CAM/CAE; NC machining, 3-D printing, injection molding, laser cutting; PCB layout and fabrication; sensors and actuators; analog instrumentation; embedded digital processing; wired and wireless communications. Emphasis on learning how to use the tools as well as understand how they work.
This is a hands on lesson best used to introduce geometry students to 3-dimensional figures. Students will have the opportunity to draw 3-dimensionally and create collapsible figures which can be used to develop the standard surface area formulas.
In this lesson, students will create proposals for hands-on, interactive and/or multimedia museum exhibits that bring different historical figures, eras, events, groups, or movements to life.
