Abstract:: This unit is taken from a second level French course, 'Nouvel envol'. Using video and audio as well as text, it will help you build up your French vocabulary and improve your grammar. It is particularly helpful in dealing with expressions of time such as 'depuis' and 'il y a ... que'. After exploring direct and reported speech through an interview with the famous French actor Jeanne Moreau, it ends with a guide to constructing written essays in French.

Persuasion Map

Abstract:: Using an interactive mapping template, students are guided to design an argument for a persuasive essay or debate. After the Persuasion Map is created, it may be printed, emailed or saved.

Abstract:: This course is an examination of the formal structural and textual variety in poetry. Students engage in extensive practice in the making of poems and the analysis of both students' manuscripts and 20th-century poetry. The course attempts to make relevant the traditional elements of poetry and their contemporary alternatives. There are weekly writing assignments, including some exercises in prosody.
