This PowerPoint presentation is part of the Whitman College petrology course. This 50-slide presentation introduces layered mafic intrusions around the world. The chapter discusses various layered mafic complexes in cross section and plan view, and also describes stratigraphy within the complexes. The presentation further describes processes within the complexes, such as crystallization, differentiation, layering, convective overturn, in-situ processes, compositional convection, and density currents.
