Page 3 of 6 of a PLTL workshop on introductory calculus-based physics, addressing Coulomb electrostatic fields. This page addresses an example of the electric field at any point on the axis of a cylinder of uniform charge density outside the cylinder itself. The emphasis is on leading students to understanding of relationships, and heuristic techniques to encourage students to work through details on their own initiative.
