This interactive adventure engages children in a story-based scenario that emphasizes concepts of remote sensing and how NASA scientists use satellite imagery to better understand the Earth's environmental changes. It introduces students to Earth science concepts, beginning with classifying objects in satellite images by shape, color and texture, building a foundation for interpreting and understanding remote sensing. The story is set in New York City, chosen for its size, diversity and the visibility of prominent features in satellite imagery. Lesson plans to accompany the adventure are in development. Recommended for: children ages 5-10.
Students go through the logical process of quantitatively analyzing data from the FasTracks system. They gain experience identifying problems with the current design based upon their earlier observations and experiences in activities 1 and 2. Students discuss the flaws that they find in the system. This activity requires the use of the FasTracks Living Lab, a web portal to interactive train (transit) traffic data for a major metropolitan city.

A number of different carrier systems are contrasted while models and tools for analyzing, optimizing, planning, managing, and controlling these systems are presented.
This course focuses on developing and refining the skills that will you need to express your voice more effectively as an academic writer. To this end, we'll think about writing as an act of self-discovery, as an act of critical thinking, and as an act of communicating with an audience. Throughout the semester, students will focus on writing as a process of drafting and revising to create essays that are lively, clear, engaging and meaningful to a wider audience.
Introduces students to problems and analysis related to the design, planning, control, and improvement of manufacturing and service operations. Includes process analysis, project analysis, materials management, production planning and scheduling, quality management, supply chain management, reengineering, design for manufacturing, capacity and facilities planning, and operations strategy. This course will introduce concepts and techniques for design, planning and control of manufacturing and service operations. The course provides basic definitions of operations management terms, tools and techniques for analyzing operations, and strategic context for making operational decisions. We present the material in five modules: Operations Analysis Coordination and Planning Quality Management Project Management Logistics and Supply Chain Managemen.
