Understanding theoretical perspectives in academic administration, finance and management including the Microtechnique constructions TORI and noesis as well as some organizational principles from General System Theory Squared, GST2, (GST2 by Lindblom). The course is in exploration of complex systems thinking (Microtechnique) (in The Psychology of Administration and Management and includes elements from The Psychology of Consciousness for the purposes of hypothesis foundation and elements from General System Theory Squared (GST2) for method.
b.) Assessment and appraisal of Microtechnique scholarly research and writing in areas of psychology.

Introduces interactive oral and interpersonal communication skills important to managers, including presenting to a hostile audience, running meetings, listening, and contributing to group decision-making. Also includes an executive summary and a long oral presentation, both aimed at a business audience, generally in conjunction with a project for another subject.
Abstract: The class covers the analysis and modeling of stochastic processes. Topics include measure theoretic probability, martingales, filtration, and stopping theorems, elements of large deviations theory, Brownian motion and reflected Brownian motion, stochastic integration and Ito calculus and functional limit theorems. In addition, the class will go over some applications to finance theory, insurance, queueing and inventory models.
Abstract: This course draws on a wide range of perspectives to explore the roots of long term competitive advantage in unusually successful firms. Using a combination of cases, simulations, readings and, most importantly, lively discussion, the course will explore the ways in which long term advantage is built from first mover advantage, increasing returns, and unique organizational competencies. We will focus particularly on the ways in which the actions of senior management build competitive advantage over time, and on the strategic implications of understanding the roots of a firm's success.
Abstract: This half-semester course introduces and surveys a selection of cutting-edge topics in the field of real estate finance and investments. The course follows an informal “seminar” format to the maximum degree possible, with students expected to take considerable initiative. Lectures and discussions led by the instructors will be supplemented by several guest speakers from the real estate investment industry, who will present perspectives on current trends and important developments in the industry.
Abstract: Alexandra Marks reports on the challenges faced by minority businesses in Boston. She notes that Jet-A-Way is multi-million dollar company that recycles trash, industrial waste, and construction debris. Marks interviews Jesse Jeter (marketing director, Jet-A-Way) and company founders Ed Jeter and Darlene Jeter about the challenges they have faced as a minority business. Jesse Jeter says that racism is still a problem. Ed Jeter says that the business benefited minority quotas in the early years. Marks reports that the NAACP Leadership Development Training Conference was recently held in Boston. Marks's report includes footage from a luncheon held during the conference. Marks interviews William Singleton (president, Quest Publishing Company) about his experiences as an African American entrepreneur. Marks notes that minority-owned businesses often have trouble finding financing. Marks' report includes footage of operations at the Jet-A-Way recycling facility. Abstract: Caroline Hunter comments on the struggle for African liberation. Guests Caroline Hunter, Dinizulu Ceitou (both of Boston's African Liberation Day Committee), and Christopher Nteta (of the Pan African Liberation Committee) discuss the liberation struggle in Mozambique with host Topper Carew. Topics include Frelimo (the African freedom fighters in Mozambique), the influence of African American support on the cause, the relationship between corporations and the seizure of African land, the need for violence to achieve liberation, the relationship between racism and colonization, and the need for African Americans to recognize that the African struggle is their own. Microeconomics is often defined as the study of individual agents' [persons, organizations, firms, markets] choices about the allocation of scarce goods and how these individual choices relate to the society made up of those individuals. The focus here is the use of technology and social interaction to coordinate individual action.
