Writing Task
After closely reading the exemplar text, students will respond to a series of text dependent questions and then write an informal explanatory essay. Teachers might afford students the opportunity to revise their essays after participating in classroom discussion or even rewrite their explanation after receiving teacher feedback, allowing them to refashion both their understanding of the text and their expression of that understanding.
